Format

The EUCF 2011, is played with 24 teams, divided in 2 divisions of 8 (elite) and 16 (challenger) teams, on 3 days of play.

This format guarantees elite teams many high quality games at their level and leaves a door open for challenger teams to make it up to the final.

The Women division is planned to be a 10-team tournament played on 3 days.

Seeding

The EUCF Seeding is based on the following criteria:

Pool Draw

The initial pools will be drawn after all the EUCRs have been completed. They will be drawn by an impartial CSC representative with an observer present. The CSC reserves the right to adjust pools to avoid regional match-ups during initial pool play. Pools will be drawn according to the following formula below:

Lexicographic order to avoid regional rematches in pre-quarters 5-12

with 4 teams 9-12, there are 24(=4*3*2*1) ways to match them up with the teams 5-8 (where the seeds are taking from the current results of
the tourney, i.e. 5=3.A, 9=winner of PPQ1 etc.).

All possible match ups are listed in their lexicographic order:
12  11  10  09 (meaning 5-12, 6-11, 7-10, 8-9)
12  11  09  10
12  10  11  09
12  10  09  11

09 10 11 12

The first match up that does not create an inner-region game will be used for the pre-quarters 5-12.
If all create such games, the first that only creates one will be used, etc..

Women:
2 pools of five teams. Pool play.
crossovers 3-6 and 7-10.
Semis, finals.  Each team plays 7 games. Pool winner play 6 games.

All games are played to 15 points, win by 2 with a hard cap of 17 and time cap of 90 minutes, Halftime of 2 minutes at 8 or after 45min + 1 point. Time won’t be stopped during half time.
